FAQs From Those Who Are New to Biodensity

Posted on

if you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, then in addition to taking medications to improve your bone density, your doctor may recommend that you consider bioDensity. This is not another prescription or treatment administered in a doctor's office. Rather, it is an exercise program that is specifically designed to help participants slowly and systematically maintain and improve their bone density. As your first bioDensity session approaches, surely a few questions will come to your mind. Hopefully, you'll discover the answers below.

How Does bioDensity Work?

High-impact exercise causes your bones to take on and retain more calcium, which essentially strengthens them so they can better tolerate more high-impact exercise in the future. But if you have osteoporosis, you should not just go out and run around the block or jump up and down on concrete; doing so could lead to fractures. BioDensity is a way to slowly and safely work some high-impact exercise into your routine. This controlled, high-impact exercise naturally triggers your bones to retain calcium and grow stronger, thereby reducing the symptoms of osteoporosis and preventing the condition from becoming worse.

What Happens During a bioDensity Session?

During a bioDensity session, you will typically work closely with a physical therapist or personal trainer who has been specifically trained to help patients use the bioDensity equipment. There is also a specific exercise machine that those in the bioDensity program use. It looks a bit like a rowing machine but with platforms for your feet and two handlebar-like handles that you grab with your hands.

With you comfortably seated on the machine, your trainer will guide you through a series of exercises. All the while, they will be reviewing feedback on the screen that tells them how much you are loading your bones. At this first appointment, you will only load your bones a little. Over subsequent appointments, you'll face increasing impact as your bones grow stronger. The whole workout takes about 20 minutes.

How Will You Feel After a bioDensity Session?

Patients often imagine they'll be tired after a bioDensity session, much like they might be tired after a session at the gym. But actually, bioDensity tends to leave patients feeling energetic and rejuvenated. The focus of the exercises is to load your bones, not work your muscles, so muscle fatigue and soreness are not really concerns. With each session, you will start to feel more confident on your feet as the reports assure you that your bone density is improving.

BioDensity is an excellent treatment for osteoporosis and one that really engages your body's own healing processes. Reach out to your doctor to learn more.
